HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY GIRLS!!!
The past year has flown by so fast. Each day is a new adventure full of learning, laughing and more love than we could have ever imagined. You continue to amaze us with your compassion for one another and overall enthusiasm for life. We cherish everyday together and look forward to all the adventures that the next year will hold.

We started off the morning with some french toast (for the first time). While Daddy was making breakfast the girls really enjoyed the balloons setup like pinatas in the living room.
fiona at 7:35am (exactly two years old - adjusted to PST)
daphne at 7:36am (exactly two years old - adjusted to PST)
stella at 7:39am (exactly two years old - adjusted to PST)
The Robertson triplets are all officially TWO!
The afternoon consisted of many skype sessions with family and friends. The girls loved opening presents probably more than the presents themselves (although Brant and I greatly appreciate everything!). Each gift got about ten minutes of play and then someone would request 'more open'. I'm not sure they understood completely what was going on, but they definitely knew that opening packages was on the agenda for the day.
After their nap, we braced ourselves for the sugar rush, yes - it was time for cupcakes. The girls never have desserts so we weren't really sure what to expect. Would they like the yellow cake and chocolate frosting? Would they smear it all over themselves, each other? We had no idea. Would they run circles around the living room after consumption?
I had spent a portion of the past week working on these silly monkey cupcakes. It was my first attempt at molding chocolate and many lessons were learned. Perhaps by the time the girls can critique future cupcakes I will be an expert (or give in and buy something pre-made).
We put the cupcakes in front of the girls and sang Happy Birthday (left to right: fiona, daphne, stella). They weren't really sure what to do when the singing was over. Thankfully they did recognize that there were monkeys on their cupcakes, but I think that also confused them. We got a lot of perplexed looks when we told the girls to eat the monkeys. (Why would we eat the monkeys? Are you sure we are supposed to touch these? I'm going to wait to see someone else have a bite first.)
Eventually everyone had a couple bites. Fiona and Stella weren't really into it and after a few minutes preferred to go and play. Daphne on the other hand wanted to continue to eat every last drop of cupcake. Yes, that's right - she ate an ENTIRE cupcake all by herself. I was impressed. With all her fingers licked and no lingering cupcake on the table, she was finally ready to play.
Overall it was a wonderful day and fabulous year. We really couldn't ask for anything different. We are so lucky to have happy, healthy, and loving children.
Happy Birthday Fiona, Daphne, and Stella! Way to go Kari, the cupcakes turned out beautifully!!! You're so creative :0)
