3.16.10: Earthquake

This morning at 4:04am the girls experienced their first earthquake which had a magnitude of 4.4. The epicenter was less than 30 miles away. Brant and I got up at 4am to say goodbye to Bonnie and within a couple minutes of getting downstairs we felt the ground shake. All three of us booked it upstairs faster than I have ever gone up those stairs to be with the girls. Fiona was awake and upset, Stella was awake and just disoriented and Daphne was still asleep. I imagine Daphne just thought she was dreaming about daddy playing with her since she loves to jump and wiggle the most. It was a pretty scary reminder that we live in southern california, but everything seems sturdy and we are hopeful that will be the first and last earthquake here for a very long time.

  1. I was thinking of you guys when I saw there was an earthquake. Glad it was 'small' and everyone is okay. I have these irrational fears that we'll have an earthquake or a fire and I'll be the only one home with the girls...then (in true dorky fashion) I play out the scenarios in my mind of what I would do. My girls nap on two different floors of the house so then I have to choose who I run to first. :)
