9.15.13: Insects!!!
Today we adventured to the Insect Festival - it was a mad house. So many people, I have no doubt that many insects didn't make it the entire day. Due to the insanity, we picked a few insects to view/touch and then made our own. (Stella/gray, Daphne/pink, Fiona/orange) weren't scared of the bugs at all. Me, well, I just couldn't enjoy the cockroach cuddle area like some.
9.7.13: Superhero recital
Daphne, Stella and Fiona really enjoy dressing up like superheroes - especially when they also wear tutus. Today these superheroes decided to have a dance recital on our 'stage'.
9.7.13: Ladybug Girl
Daphne, Fiona and Stella were so excited that Ladybug Girl came today. It involved a trip to mama's work and some frozen yogurt. Daphne was pretty hesitant to hug her but didn't want to miss out on the experience all together - notice she is actually hugging Fiona.
8.31.13: Dance class - take two
Fiona, Stella and Daphne began a second round of Tap/Ballet classes today. This time even organized with a two song recital at the end. I just love watching them learn to dance, especially when they teach me their new moves after class.
8.30.13: Stealing Daddy

Due to the holiday weekend, I was told to leave work in the early afternoon, who am I to argue? So I set out to steal the girls from school and then steal Brant from work. Upon arrival at school, the girls weren't so sure that they were ready to leave, they have become accustomed to their afternoon program (and I had not prepared them for an early departure). After some discussions, we decided it was worth leaving school early so that we could go and steal Daddy from work. They each made him a sign that said "We Stole Daddy" and then we were off (Fiona/top, Daphne/middle, Stella/bottom). We broke into his building and ran up to his office. After a few minutes of whiteboard coloring, we stole Brant from work and set out for our long weekend full of family time.
8.29.13: Artwork
I love the girls' preschool for many reasons, this is just one of them. Today they brought home some artwork. No, not a piece of paper colored or even a collage, but full-on wood and nail art creations. Stella, Fiona (x2) and Daphne worked in the Art Studio to create their own art using nails (and hammers), pipe cleaners, lids, wire and a few other objects of unknown origination. They are all very proud and visit them daily. I haven't exactly figured out a good way to display them yet, but love that they are learning to use all sorts of tools.
8.24.13: Surprise Nene
Daphne, Stella, Fiona, and I decided to surprise Nene this weekend. Brant had to prepare for the classes since the school year was about to start and it is still too hot to play outside much. In an attempt to find something new and exciting to do for the weekend, we called up Nene Friday night and less than 12 hours later, we were on our way to her house. We declared it a 'girls weekend' and had lots of fun playing, swimming, and even shopping for paintable dresser knobs. The girls did great on the drive both ways and had such a fantastic time. It was a good reminder that the 2.5 hour drive is worth it for a weekend full of fun.
8.22.13: Mirror lab
Today Stella, Daphne, and Fiona got to take a tour of the giant mirror lab under the football stadium. I'm not sure they quite understood what was going on but they tolerated the requested pictures and tried to avoid touching dangerous things. After the tour, there was some cake to celebrate a milestone for the lab. When asking the girls what their favorite part of the tour was....obviously the cake. Perhaps next year we will be more into the science.

8.12.13: Adjustment period
Now that school has started and the girls are in the Pre-K/K room, there is no longer a nap time. Everyday there is ~30 minutes of rest time where teachers read from a chapter book and supposedly many kids fall asleep, but not ours. As you can see for our shopping adventure, sometimes we just get overwhelmed and fall asleep these days. The girls have never done this before. Occasionally they will fall asleep on a long car ride, but not since the days of stroller walks have they fallen asleep while out. We will definitely call this an adjustment period.
